The Instigators (Apple TV+)

Academy Award-winners Matt Damon and Casey Affleck are set to star in a new thriller form director Doug Liman (The Bourne identity, Edge of Tomorrow). Damon and Affleck will play two thieves on the run with the help of one of their therapists after a robbery goes wrong. The film reteams Damon, Casey Affleck and Walsh following their collaboration on Manchester by the Sea, and is the second high-profile collaboration between Walsh and Apple TV+ along with the upcoming Killers of the Flower Moon (directed by Martin Scorsese). Production is set to begin in Boston and new York city beginning on February 27.

Wonder Man (Disney+)

Marvel Studios’ latest streaming series will be Wonder Man. Originally introduced in the comics in 1964, the character became popular in the 1980s as a member of the West Coast Avengers. Imbued with “ionic” energy, Wonder Man’s powers include superhuman strength, speed and stamina. Yahya Abdul-Mateen (Watchmen, The Matrix Resurrections) will portray the superhero in a series overseen by Daniel Destin Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). In addition to working on Wonder Man, Cretton is developing a sequel to Shang-Chi and recently wrapped directing and executive producing a series adaptation of Gene Luen Yang’s graphic novel American Born Chinese for Disney+. Production will begin in Atlanta on April 3.

Goodrich (Rocket Science)

Michael Keaton (Birdman, Spotlight) will be the title role in a new drama written and directed by Hallie Meyers-Shyer. Meyers-Shyer’s 2017 directorial debut comedy-drama Home Again, starring Reese Witherspoon, took close to $40M global. According to press materials, when Andy Goodrich’s second wife suddenly leaves him, he is faced with taking sole care of their nine-year-old twins and relies a little too heavily on the help of his adult daughter who struggles to help Andy become the father she never had.
