Film Liaisons in California
Expanded tax credits and free statewide support are driving renewed industry momentum in the Golden State
FLICS Powers California’s Explosive Production Comeback
“California is a partner in the ever-expanding global film industry. The Film Liaisons In California Statewide (FLICS) doesn’t take that for granted. Our members represent a variety of landscapes across the Golden State that can literally double for anywhere in the world and the FLICS are a valuable resource helping save productions time and money, enabling them to maintain their focus on achieving a successful project.”
– Sabrina Jurisich, FLICS President and Regional Film Commissioner for Upstate California
California remains one of the world’s most revered production-ready filming destinations, and Film Liaisons In California Statewide (FLICS) helps productions navigate every opportunity from the ground up. Throughout the state, representatives are ready to assist filmmakers, connecting them with TV crews, content creators, local experts, and commercial producers who understand the region’s permitting processes, filming locations, municipal contacts, vendor networks and other production needs.
As California experiences renewed strength following the expansion of the state’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program, filmmakers and producers have access to local support throughout all stages of production. The amplified program has since drawn record participation, with state officials projecting billions of dollars in economic impact during its first year. For those evaluating California as their next filming location, the robust incentive program adds a stronger financial backbone to a region with an already defined filmmaking ecosystem of experienced crews, deep production infrastructure and diverse geography.
The FLICS team provides no-cost assistance to filmmakers, making the organization an ideal first call for projects of all sizes and genres. Whether a production needs sweeping coastal scenery, arid desert landscapes, winding mountain roads, urban backdrops, agricultural settings, small-town streetscapes or expert local guidance, FLICS members are ready to help producers and filmmakers identify the best region and connect with the right professionals.
By pairing invaluable local expertise with statewide reach, FLICS supports efficient, film-friendly production across the Golden State. As more creative projects return to California, the state’s network of regional film offices and professionals helps ensure that productions can move from location scouting to shooting with confidence.
