The annual conference will take place digitally from November 9 – 13.

The American Film Market, the annual gathering of 7,000 industry professionals in Santa Monica, California is moving to a virtual format this fall.

The new AFM 2020 seeks to replicate the live experience for the independent film community. Attendees will be able to attend five days of live sessions, convene in the networking pavilion, visit the on-demand theatre and check out exhibitor booths at the location expo.

Annually, over $1 billion in deals are sealed at AFM, and the producers of this conference are seeking to replicate the deal making that occurs between acquisition and development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, festival directors, financiers, film commissioners, producers, writers, the world’s press and all those who provide services to the motion picture industry.

Components of this year’s virtual event include MyAFM, where delegates create their profile and discover other participants, with capabilities to host Zoom meetings from inside the platform. Additionally, the networking pavilion provides an interactive experience with over 100 video discussion every hour with opportunities to join small groups.

Over 200 speakers will participate in 70+ live sessions including conferences, panels, workshops all centered around independent filmmaking with an emphasis on getting projects up and running.

The location expo is where filmmakers can gather info on film commissions worldwide, with unique locations across the globe and billions of dollars in production incentives that can quickly get films moving.

The industry offices portal provides connection points with over 300 production and sales companies in addition to industry organizations from around the world.
