Dating back to the 1830s, it is most known for being a port for soldiers during the Civil War and for being a passing city for cowboys headed to the Wild West. Monroe

Monroe, Louisiana sits along the Ouachita River, which has been said by National Geographic to be one of the most beautiful rivers in the world.
