My Ex-Friend’s Wedding (Sony)

Sony has landed global rights to the sister comedy My Ex-Friend’s Wedding, to be directed by Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect, Blockers). According to press materials, “four childhood best friends get a drunken voicemail from their former best friend on the eve of her wedding day — confessing that she thinks she’s making a mistake — then setting out to stop her wedding and rekindle the friendship they once shared.” The cast includes Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Chloe Fineman (SNL), Megan Stalter (Hacks) and Academy Award nominee Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout). Filming will begin in early June in the Boston area.

37 Heavens (Jump Street Films)

The King’s Man and Quantum Of Solace star Gemma Arterton is set to play Jackie Kennedy in new feature 37 Heavens, we can reveal. The movie will chart the much-speculated-about relationship between Kennedy and British diplomat Lord David Harlech, who will be played by Mare Of Easttown and The Hurt Locker star Guy Pearce. Metro International is launching international sales on the hot package ahead of the Cannes virtual market with CAA Media Finance repping North America. The Third Day and The Secret Garden director Marc Munden will direct from a script by Steve Austin. Production is scheduled for late June in Melbourne, Australia.

Community:The Movie (Peacock)

The cult NBC sitcom will return for a feature film that will be streamed on Peacock. Returning cast members include Gillian Jacobs, Alison brie, Danny Pudi, Ken Jeong and Jim Rash. According to press materials, “the student body at Greendale Community College is made up of high-school losers, newly divorced housewives and old people who want to keep their minds active. Within these not-so-hallowed halls is on particular band of misfits, at the center of which is a fast-talking lawyer whose degree has been revoked, who form a study group and end up learning a lot more about themselves than they do about their course work.” Filming is set to begin on June 5 in Los Angeles.
