You Deserve to Know
Former The Vampire Diaries co-stars Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley are reuniting for You Deserve to Know, a limited series in development at Hulu based on Aggie Blum Thompson’s 2025 novel of the same name. Production is slated to begin in Vancouver in August 2026, continuing British Columbia’s role as one of North America’s busiest television production hubs.
Written and executive produced by Brian Tanen (Grand Hotel), the suburban mystery centers on three neighboring couples whose seemingly idyllic friendships unravel after one husband is murdered following a Friday night dinner gathering. Dobrev and Wesley star as neighbors Gwen and Scott, whose lives become increasingly entangled as suspicion spreads through the close-knit community.
The project landed at Hulu following a competitive bidding process and is produced by Alex Cooper’s Unwell banner alongside Kapital Entertainment. Dobrev and Wesley also serve as executive producers, joined by Thompson, Aaron Kaplan, Matt Kaplan and Mina Lefevre.
For production professionals, Vancouver remains a natural choice for prestige streaming dramas thanks to its experienced crews, versatile suburban locations and competitive production incentives. From Me to You
Independent romantic comedy From Me to You has wrapped principal photography in Whitehorse, Yukon, becoming the territory’s first homegrown scripted feature film in more than a decade. The production marks the feature directorial debut of Yukon filmmaker Daniel Little, who co-wrote the screenplay with fellow Yukon playwright Peter Jickling.
The film follows Paul, an aspiring writer with cerebral palsy who develops feelings for his mail carrier, Nora. Hoping to see her more often, he begins writing letters to himself, creating an unconventional romantic premise rooted in humor and heartfelt emotion. Allan Dobrescu stars as Paul opposite Genevieve Doyon, with Tahmoh Penikett also appearing in the film.
Produced by Marty O’Brien, the project received support through Telefilm Canada‘s Talent to Watch program, along with funding from the Canada Media Fund, Yukon Media Development and the Disability Screen Office. The production’s commitment to authentic disability representation both in front of and behind the camera reflects a broader industry emphasis on inclusive storytelling.
For Canada’s production community, the film demonstrates the growing opportunities available outside the country’s traditional production centers.
