Bad Bridgets (Fine Point Films)
Daisy Edgard-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing, Twisters) and Emilia Jones (Locke & Key, Task) will co-star in a new project from Kneecap director Rich Peppiatt. Titled Bad Bridgets, the project is inspired by the book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by Elaine Farrell & Leanne McCormick. The plot follows a young woman on a perilous journey from famine-ravaged Ireland to 19th century New York, joining the ranks of Irish “Bridgets” creating mayhem in the city. LuckyChap and Coup d’Etat are producing, with filming scheduled to begin on location in Ireland and Northern Ireland in early April.
Peaked (A24)
Molly Gordon will follow up her well-reviewed film debut Theater Camp with Peaked, a comedy that follows two high school bullies as they try to relive their glory days at their 10-year reunion. Starring Emma Mackey (Sex Education, Ella McCay) and Gordon herself, the project will be co-written by Allie Levitan and produced by A24. Topic Studios, who previously collaborated with Gordon on Theater Camp, will co-finance the film. Filming is scheduled to begin in Jersey City in late February.
Bishop (Amazon Prime Video)
Joel Kinnaman (For All Mankind, Altered Carbon) is slated to star in a new crime drama for Amazon Prime Video. The show will follow a brilliant but scarred homicide detective hunting a killer that targets San Francisco’s elite, only to uncover ties to his own powerful father. Showrunner Little Marvin and writer Tony Salzman previously created the series Them for Amazon, and Roy Lee will also executive produce along with Miri Yoon of Vertigo. Amazon MGM Studios, where Little Marvin is under an overall deal, will produce. Filming is scheduled to begin in Quebec, Montreal in early May.
