Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence star in Martin Scorsese’s new film, Paramount begins production on a modern Western thriller, and Pamela Anderson and Dakota Fanning team up for Alma
What Happens at Night (Apple Studios)
Legendary director Martin Scorsese (Killers of the Flower Moon, The Irishman) has selected his next project: an adaptation of the Peter Cameron ghost story novel What Happens at Night. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another, Don’t Look Up) and Jennifer Lawrence (Die My Love, No Hard Feelings), the plot involves an American couple’s plan to adopt a child and how it unravels amid eerie encounters, moral ambiguities and the crumbling weight of their marriage. Produced and financed by Apple Original Films alongside Studio Canal, the film will be written by Patrick Marber (Closer, Notes on a Scandal). Filming is scheduled to commence in New York City in early April.
The Rescue (Paramount Pictures)
Brandon Sklenar (It Ends with Us, The Housemaid) will star in a new thriller for Paramount. The logline is being kept under wraps, but The Rescue is a modern-day Western in which a rodeo cowboy’s skills are put to the test outside the arena. Co-starring Hassie Harrison (Yellowstone) and directed by Potsy Ponciroli (Old Henry, Greedy People), the project will be produced by Paramount partner Skydance Media alongside Hideout Pictures. Filming will begin in Atlanta, Georgia in early February.
Alma (Bankside Films)
Dakota Fanning (The Talented Mr. Ripley, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Pamela Anderson (The Naked Gun, The Last Showgirl) will co-star in a new film from acclaimed arthouse director Sally Potter (Orlando, The Roads Not Taken). The story follows an extended family that meets to scatter the ashes of their mother only to find that her continued haunting presence explosively, and often comically, unravels the secrets of their lives. The film will be additionally written by Potter, with Stephen Kelliher serving as executive producer for Bankside Films. Filming will commence in London, England and the county of Derbyshire in May.
