Yellowstone receives new spinoff with Luke Grimes, Demi Moore and Colman Domingo star in an alien abduction drama, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off co-stars re-team for a new Lionsgate project

Y: Marshalls (Paramount Pictures)

The latest spinoff in the popular Yellowstone television franchise will star Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton. After leaving behind the Yellowstone ranch, Kayce joins an elite U.S. Marshals unit, combining his skills as a former Navy SEAL and cowboy to enforce law across Montana. The show will blend Western themes with crime drama as Kayce and his team balance duty, family and the high psychological costs of their dangerous work. The program’s showrunner will be Spencer Hudnut—who previously acted as supervising producer on Unforgettable, The Blacklist: Redemption and SEAL Team—and executive produced by franchise helmer Taylor Sheridan. Filming is set to commence on location in Wyoming and Montana in early October.

Strange Arrivals (See-Saw Films)

Recent Academy Award nominees Demi Moore (The Substance) and Colman Domingo (Sing Sing) are set to star in an alien abduction drama from acclaimed documentarian Roger Ross Williams (Stamped From the Beginning). The film is being promoted as a “fact-based drama about the famous 1961 alien abduction case of Betty and Barney Hill, an interracial couple who claimed to have been taken by extraterrestrials. The film will chronicle their experience and its aftermath.” Filming will begin in Manchester, New Hampshire (close to where the alleged abduction happened) in early October.

The Best is Yet to Come (Lionsgate)

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off co-stars Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck will reunite after nearly 40 years for The Best is Yet to Come. Produced by Lionsgate, the project follows two lifelong friends go on a bucket-list road trip due to a colossal misunderstanding, racing to mend family ties and live life to the fullest before time runs out. The project will be directed by Jon Turteltaub (the National Treasure franchise, The Meg) and written by Allan Loeb (21, The Space Between Us). Filming begins in the Los Angeles area in early July.
