Tom Hanks returns for Greyhound sequel, Sophie turner to portray Lara Croft in Tomb Raider series, and Rosamund Pike headlines Netflix Silicon Valley drama
Greyhound 2 (Apple Studios)
Tom Hanks is set to reprise his role as World War II naval commander Ernie Krause in a sequel to the 2020 Apple TV+ film Greyhound. Hanks will return as screenwriter, along with Aaron Schneider as director and Gary Goetzman as producer for Playtone. The first entry was set in 1942, where Krause led the USS Greyhound through the deadly Mid-Atlantic “Black Pit” and battled relentless U-boat attacks to protect an Allied convoy. The sequel follows Krause and his crew from Normandy to the Pacific. Filming is scheduled to begin in early January along the coast of Sydney, Australia.
Tomb Raider (Amazon-MGM Studios)
Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) is set to portray iconic video game character Lara Croft in a series reboot for Amazon-MGM Studios helmed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag). Waller-Bridge will write and executive produce, with Jonathan Van Tulleken (Shōgun, Dope Thief) set to direct a bulk of the episodes. The other executive producer and showrunner will be Chad Hodge (Runaway, The Playboy Club, Wayward Pines). Filming is scheduled to commence on January 19 in London.
God Mode (Netflix)
Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl, Saltburn) will headline a new Netflix series set in Silicon Valley, where power players clash over control of the world’s most influential tech industry. The story was crafted by Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Report) and K.C. Perry (Severance), with the former being the creator and the latter serving as the showrunner. Filming is scheduled to begin throughout New York City and New Jersey beginning on February 17.
