Kristen Stewart makes her directorial debut, Chris Pratt stars in a Navy SEAL family film, and Mark Wahlberg signs on for a Farrelly comedy.

The Chronology of Water (Scott Free Productions)

Kristen Stewart (Spencer, Love Lies Bleeding) is set to make her directorial debut with an adaptation of Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir The Chronology of Water. Yuknavitch was a talented swimmer and Olympic hopeful who lost her college scholarship due to drug and alcohol abuse. She would eventually move to Eugene and enroll in the University of Oregon to collaborate with celebrated author Ken Kesey and explore her bisexual identity. Co-written by Stewart, the film will star Imogen Poots (Outer Range) as Yuknavitch and include Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions as a producing partner. Filming is set to begin on location in Eugene on July 30.

Way of the Warrior Kid (Invisible Productions)

Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Terminal List) will produce and star in an adaptation of the novel by Jock Willink. The plot follows a self-doubting kid who gets bullied as he learns to find his inner warrior with the help of his uncle (Pratt), an elite Navy SEAL who uses his training to guide the youth over the summer. The project will be directed by McG (Charlie’s Angels, We Are Marshall) and written by Will Staples (Without Remorse), with production overseen by FilmNation Entertainment and Invisible Films. Filming will begin throughout Los Angeles in late July.

Balls Up (Amazon MGM Studios)

Peter Farrelly (Green Book, Ricky Stanicky) will direct a comedy written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Deadpool & Wolverine). The film follows two American marketing executives who are fired for blowing a client sponsorship opportunity and decide to use their free tickets to a major soccer match. Their drunken debauchery leads them to be hunted by every person across the country. The project will star Mark Wahlberg (The Family Plan) and Paul Walter Hauser (The Instigators), with Skydance producing. The movie will be shot in Los Angeles and Australia beginning in late July.
