Chris O’Donnell stars in a new 9-1-1 entry, Daniel Craig to portray a DC superhero, and Amazon greenlights a Beekeeper sequel

9-1-1: Nashville (Ryan Murphy Television)

Since its debut in 2018, the Ryan Murphy-produced 9-1-1 has become one of network TV’s most reliable performers and has already produced the spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star. Now a new franchise installment is set to debut this fall on ABC. Set in Nashville, Tennessee, the series will follow the professional and personal lives of first responders, including police officers, firefighters and paramedics as they tackle emergencies unique to the vibrant culture and challenges of Music City. Chris O’Donnell (NCIS: LA) will play Captain Don Sharpe, “a rugged fire captain and rodeo rider who runs Nashville’s busiest firehouse with his beloved son.” Filming for the series’ first episodes will begin on location in Nashville on June 30.

Sgt. Rock (Warner Bros.)

One of the first films to inaugurate the next era of Warner Bros.’ DC Comics movies under the guidance of James Gunn, Sgt. Rock will re-team Daniel Craig and director Luca Guadagnino after their collaboration in 2024’s Queer. Based on the DC comic book, the film will follow the story of a fictional World War II American sergeant (Craig) who led his ragtag infantry unit, Easy Company, to victory throughout Europe. Guadagnino will again work with his Challengers screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, with filming set to commence throughout the United Kingdom in December 2025.

Beekeeper 2 (Amazon MGM Studios)

Indonesian action filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto has been tapped to direct the sequel to the 2024 film The Beekeeper. Starring Jason Statham, the movie followed Statham’s Adam as he seeks revenge for the death of his friend and kind-hearted landlady who fell victim to a massive phishing scam. While plot details for the second entry remain under wraps, filming will commence in Los Angeles in September.
