NBCUniversal expands its Vancouver footprint with Allegiance returning for Season 4, a circus-set crime drama Bombshell Betty begins shooting in California wine country, and Orion Pictures gears up for a New York–set drama starring Angela Bassett.
Allegiance (Season 4)
NBCUniversal International is continuing its globally distributed crime drama Allegiance, with Season 4 set to begin filming in July 2026 across Vancouver and the Metro Vancouver Regional District in British Columbia. The series is produced by Scott Road Productions and Lark Productions, underscoring Canada’s continued role as a key hub for high-end network drama production.
Created by showrunners Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern, Allegiance follows a Sikh rookie police officer navigating divided loyalties after her father, the Minister of Public Safety, is arrested on terrorism charges. The series blends procedural storytelling with political and cultural tension, positioning itself within the growing slate of socially conscious crime dramas.
Season 4 reunites director David Frazee with cinematographer Craig Powell, with casting led by Errin Lally and Annalese Tilling. Production management is overseen by Simon Richardson, with stunt coordination and action design playing a key role given the show’s law enforcement focus.
Vancouver remains a strategic base for the series due to its established crew infrastructure, tax incentives, and proximity to both urban and remote shooting environments frequently used in the show’s visual palette.
Bombshell Betty
Independent feature Bombshell Betty is set to begin principal photography on May 19, 2026, filming through June 18 in Santa Ynez, California, in Santa Barbara County. The rural wine-country location is expected to double for a traveling circus backdrop, offering a controlled but visually rich environment for production design.
The film follows a bank robber who takes refuge within a traveling circus, only to find unexpected community and protection among its performers. The project is produced by Jim Agnew and Brian Pitt, with direction by Erik MacArthur and screenplay by Nick Ballo. Casting is overseen by Monika Mikkelsen.
Production is backed by Black Diamond Films alongside Pitt Street Productions, reflecting a UK–U.S. independent financing structure. The 30-day shoot schedule suggests a tightly managed production, likely relying on practical locations and a modest footprint to support circus set pieces and ensemble storytelling.
Industry observers will be watching how the production balances its period-leaning aesthetic with the logistical challenges of working in active agricultural and tourism-adjacent regions of Santa Barbara County.
